Is this thing on?

Ahem. Oh, hi!

I am an intermediate-level communicator and volunteer arts and culture publicist currently looking for work in Toronto, Ontario.

Until mid-July, I worked as the Communications Officer for the The College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia (CDSBC): a provincial health-regulatory organization. Rooted in internal communications, my job had me working on several interesting projects such as web and online course development, magazine editing, presentation design and event planning. I maintained the CDSBC website and distributed email blasts, designed print materials using Photoshop and InDesign, and coordinated the production of CDSBC’s printed documents.

From April to June this year, I volunteered as the media coordinator for the third annual Vancouver Mini Maker Faire: a two-day celebration of do-it-yourself culture comprised of exhibits, workshops and performances (attendance 5,000). I was responsible for media relations, media sponsorship, coordinating bloggers, designing ads for print and radio, writing, editing and social media. I earned repeat coverage in Vancouver’s two major daily newspapers, plus major TV stations, radio, and a number of community papers and blogs.

At night I like taking photos with my digital SLR, and attending courses on technology and social media. I am also keen to help my creative friends with their PR, so you can usually find me at local art, film and music events.

Specialties: Corporate writing, stakeholder relations, web development, media relations, internal communications, event planning, writing, editing, blogging and newspaper reporting. Proficient in InDesign, Photoshop, WordPress, Contribute, Prezi and Final Cut Pro X.

Hi Lena . I was wondering if you knew what became of Marco Niccoli , the 12 year old boy who got an acting role on the X-Films film `”I Want to Believe” You interviewed him back in July of 2008 . Thank you

      Hi Francine,

No, I don’t unfortunately. I just tried Googling him, but nothing came up that wasn’t related to the X-Files film in 2008. His IMDB profile references a parent (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3069140/), so if you wanted to track him down you could start there? Sorry I can’t be of more assistance. I hope you find the info you’re looking for.
